NAS Celebrates 25 Years

North American Stainless (Acerinox Group) celebrated its 25 years in the US stainless steel market with festivities at its Ghent, Kentucky mill on May 5 and 6.

North American Stainless was formed in April, 1990, selling its first coil in early 1993. Over several phases of development, NAS has grown from a re-roller in the early 1990s, to the largest, fully integrated stainless steel mill in North America.

NAS hosted open houses and luncheons both days – one for employees and one for governmental officials, vendors, raw material suppliers and customers. Bernardo Velazquez, CEO of Acerinox, and Antonio Pacheco, Acerinox’s Managing Director, were in attendance. The consensus of those in attendance was that the stainless steel market in the United States is growing and the expectation is that results for the second half of 2015 should show improvement from that of the first quarter.
