Surcharge Mechanism Change

As a result of the quarterly European Benchmark negotiations extending very late each negotiation period, most recently 22 days into the active quarter of negotiation, it has become necessary to adjust the structure for building the chrome portion of the monthly surcharge. Effective immediately, the chrome portion of the surcharge will be built by applying the Quarterly European Ferrochrome benchmark with a one month delay.
As a transition into this new structure, the current Q2 European Benchmark value will be used through July of 2020. Beginning in August of 2020, this new schedule will apply. Please see the table below for full detail on the application of the European Ferrochrome Benchmark into the monthly surcharge. This change will be a permanent system that will apply to all quarters moving forward.
