The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), Construction Division has completed the qualification evaluation of the stainless steel reinforcing bars produced by NAS. As a result of the satisfactory qualification findings NAS has been approved for one year effective from December 12,2011.
NAS will be maintained on the Department’s approved Material Producer List (MPL) “Reinforcing Steel Mills”. NAS customers will be able to access this document through the following link: http://www.dot.state.tx.us/business/contractors_consultants/producer_list.htm NAS will appear in the list of “Reinforcing Steel Mills” with producer code “98276”.
The Texas DOT qualification audit is the first such audit ever done for stainless re-bar and NAS is the first stainless mill in the U.S. to undergo this approval process. It is expected that the Texas DOT qualification audit will become the basis for a future federal qualification process for stainless re-bar with NAS leading the way.
